چکیده

This paper studies the in uence of knowledge difference on the performance of a search agent | { a controllable camera that can pan, tilt and zoom. The task of the agent is to search for a 3D target within a 3D environment. The goal is to maximize the probability of detecting the target within a given period of time. The search agent does this by autonomously controlling its state parameters to bring the target into the eld of view of the camera and to make the image of the target with quality such that it can be detected by the available recognition algorithms. Before the search process, the agent has some knowledge of the position of the target. This knowledge is used to guide the sensor planning process. Typically, this knowledge is di erent more or less from the real situation. This \knowledge di erence" (the discrepancy between the agent's knowledge and reality) can in uence the performance of the agent. In this paper, we study how to formulate quantitatively the knowledge di erence and how the performance of the agent is in uenced by this di erence. We also propose a method to integrate knowledge from di erent sources such that the knowledge di erence can be reduced.

Emergence of Individuality and Sociality by Reinforcement Learning in Multi-Agent Systems

In this paper, a new viewpoint, "individuality" and "sociality", is introduced for analyzing the multi-agent system's behavior. A hypothesis is set up that the both behavioral characters emerge to generate different actions from the other agent to increase each agent's bene t. "Individuality" is de ned as the di erence of actions between agents based on the di erence of its internal information...

Orr Sommerfeld Solver Using Mapped Finite Di?erence Scheme for Plane Wake Flow

Linear stability analysis of the three dimensional plane wake flow is performed using a mapped finite di?erence scheme in a domain which is doubly infinite in the cross–stream direction of wake flow. The physical domain in cross–stream direction is mapped to the computational domain using a cotangent mapping of the form y = ?cot(??). The Squire transformation [2], proposed by Squire, is also us...

Cumulativity as Inductive Bias

An important di erence in inductive bias between machine learning approaches is whether they assume the e ects of di erent properties on a target variable to be cumulative or not. We believe this di erence may have an important in uence on the performance of machine learning or data mining techniques, and hence should be taken into account when deciding which techniques to use. We illustrate th...

Knowledge Granularity and Action Selection

In this paper we introduce the concept of knowledge granularity and study its in uence on an agent's action selection process. Action selection is critical to an agent performing a task in a dynamic, unpredictable environment. Knowledge representation is central to the agent's action selection process. It is important to study what kind of knowledge the agent should represent and the preferred ...

Globalisation and corruption

When a country interacts with foreign countries, it exposes itself to foreign culture and behaviour. This could carry over to business culture in general and the corruption culture speci…cally. Therefore, the m...
